The 22-year-old will join the Scottish Championship side in the summer.
Josh Windass has explained that Mark Warburton told him when he signed for Rangers that the club’s goal was to surpass Celtic and win the Scottish Premiership title, the Sunday Mail reports.
The midfielder is set to move to Ibrox in the summer following an incredibly promising time at League Two side Accrington Stanley.
And ahead of the move, he discussed how his new manager indicated that the Light Blues have one very simple target ahead of their return to the top flight.
“It’s not at the same level but even at Accrington this season, my expectation was to win League Two,” he told the Sunday Mail.
“We were favourites to get relegated but in-house we were going for the title.
“I have no doubt that next season at Rangers, Mark Warburton will tell the players exactly the same.
“When I signed he told me that the main objective was to surpass Celtic and be champions. So that will definitely be the aim.”
Though the Gers’ recent results have been underwhelming, their performances for the majority of the season suggest that they are definitely on the right path to getting back towards the summit of the Scottish game.
Warburton’s men strolled to the Scottish Championship title, won the Challenge Cup and have a Scottish Cup final ahead in their last game of the campaign.
And having beaten three top flight teams on their way to booking their place in their second final of the season, it appears that the squad has the potential to take some by surprise next year.
And with the 22-year-old scoring 15 league goals from an attacking midfield role for John Coleman’s men this year, while fellow Rangers-bound Stanley man Matt Crooks has also contributed a decent number of strikes, it appears that they stand a good chance of achieving Warburton’s main target of dethroning their Old Firm foes.
