The Ibrox boss wants teams like Rangers to be protected from dodgy kick-off times.

Both the Gers and rivals Celtic have brutal schedules in the first half of the season when participating in European group stages.
It’s something that Gerrard’s side have managed to deal with well over the last year, getting used to a Sunday to Thursday schedule.
However, he feels that when clubs are asked to kick-off at lunchtime it’s a problem. He even believes it could be to the detriment of players’ safety.
As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the Rangers boss said: “I understand TV want to buy certain games. That’s where the governing body have got to help European teams and give you the kick-off that helps the players be better recovered.
“Surely the players’ safety is better. Surely the outcome of Scottish football is very important.
“You have got to give the players time to recover and be in the best shape to go and entertain the people who are actually watching on TV.”
Perhaps by tactical design, Gerrard has raised this issue on a weekend that Celtic played in the early Sunday match, perhaps wanting to avoid accusations of unnecessary whining.
It’s a problem he clearly thinks needs addressed.
The trickiest schedule on the horizon for the Gers comes in December when Rangers play Young Boys then kick-off at 12:00 away to Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership.

With the Steelmen running Rangers so close earlier today, that’s one that Gerrard’s team will need to be at their best for.
Unfortunately for supporters and for managers, it’s broadcasters who call the shots with regards to kick-off times.
It’s unlikely that Gerrard’s wishes will be heeded by authorities, who know full well that TV money is a crucial income stream for almost every team in the division.
