Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has told Sky Sports that reported Ibrox target and Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall is a fantastic footballer.

Ibrox club Rangers are interested in signing Worrall from Forest in the Championship in England in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Record.

Rangers boss Gerrard is reported to have made an inquiry to sign the England Under-21 international on loan from the Reds this summer.

Forest are reportedly willing to send the 21-year-old defender out on loan, with West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa and Stoke City also claimed to be interested in the youngster.

Rangers manager Gerrard has praised the youngster, but the Liverpool legend has refused to comment on whether or not he is actually interest in the Forest defender.

Gerrard told Sky Sports: “Worrall’s a fantastic player. I have followed him for many years with England. Really good player, but no, I don’t think I have to add anymore to that really.”

Good signing for Rangers

Worrall is a very talented and promising young defender, and the Forest man would be a good signing for Rangers on loan.

However, with the likes of Villa, West Brom and Stoke also reported to be interested in the Forest defender, Rangers do appear to be facing some competition.

One advantage that the Gers could have is that Forest may not be keen on sending Worrall to loan to a Championship rival.
