Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers will be without Jordan Rossiter for weeks, Steven Gerrard confirms.

Steven Gerrard has told Rangers TV that Jordan Rossiter has been the team’s “stand-out performer” in pre-season, but revealed that the young midfielder is facing weeks on the sidelines.
Rossiter joined Rangers from Liverpool two years ago, having played alongside Gerrard on Merseyside, but injuries have severely hindered his ability to make an impact at Ibrox.
So far, the 21-year-old has only made nine first-team appearances after a series of recurring injuries.
The talented Gers star is suffering with yet another ankle problem and although Gerrard admits that his prognosis is looking like weeks rather than days at the moment, the 38-year-old says that his latest setback was merely bad luck and not related to being “injury prone”.
He told Rangers TV: “He was making a fantastic impression in pre-season. He was probably the stand-out performer of consistency up until he got the unfortunate knock.
“But the knock is nothing to do with being injury prone or anything like that. It was a moment of bad luck, but up until he got injured he was the stand-out performer.”
After previously claiming that Graham Dorrans is out for weeks, Gerrard added about Rossiter’s prognosis: “Jordan might be slightly longer than Graham.”
It’s ever so difficult not to feel sorry for Rossiter. In terms of ability, he might be Rangers’ most talented player, a claim certainly strengthened by Gerrard’s comments on him here.
Gerrard’s mention that his latest injury is not related to previous ones is definitely good news, and hopefully for his and the Gers’ sake he can regain full fitness soon.
