The Ibrox manager was responded to the Liverpool manager’s claims he could one day take charge at Anfield.

In an interview with FourFourTwo earlier this week, Jurgen Klopp named Gerrard as a potential successor to the German should he leave Liverpool.
Obviously that’s not likely right now, given Liverpool’s incredible success recently, but it was a big compliment and not one that the Ibrox man has taken lightly.
Although pleased to hear Klopp speak so highly of him, all Gerrard is interested in is Klopp delivering even more trophies to Merseyside over the coming years.
As quoted by The Echo, Gerrard said: “I was surprised and flattered at the same time.
“But when you read the quote really carefully, like I have, it said, ‘if I get sacked tomorrow’ he thinks Steven Gerrard should be the next Liverpool manager.
“Jurgen Klopp’s not getting sacked tomorrow. I don’t want him to get sacked tomorrow. He’s doing a fantastic job.
“I’m a Liverpool fan and I’m sure every Liverpool fan on the planet endorses what I’m saying here, we want him to stay for many, many years and to bring as much success to our club as possible. But yeah it was very flattering at the same time.”
What does Gerrard need to do to land Liverpool job?
The former Anfield captain has a huge emotional tie to the club and if push came to shove, it may not take much for the hierarchy at Liverpool to give him the nod in the even that Klopp leaves one day.
However, delivering real success at Rangers would surely go a long way to proving that he has the kind of management skills to make him a viable boss at the elite level.

The Gers crave major honours badly. Their trophy starved support continue to be frustrated and Gerrard needs to show he can deliver tangible progress and break Celtic’s stranglehold over Scottish football in one of the three competitions.
If he can do that, his Liverpool credentials will be boosted massively. A trophy win, coupled with a few big European results, could make him a shoe-in for the job one day.
