Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told the club’s official website that he is delighted to have landed goalkeeper Allan McGregor today.
The Gers had already tied up one new signing earlier this week with a pre-contract agreement for Burnley midfielder Scott Arfield – and now another deal has been struck.
After weeks of speculation, Rangers have handed a two-year deal to goalkeeper Allan McGregor, securing his return to Ibrox.
The 36-year-old shot-stopper came up through the ranks with Rangers, racking up nearly 300 appearances for the club before leaving for Besiktas in 2012.
McGregor has been a mainstay for Hull over the last year despite the presence of fellow Scot David Marshall, and even won the Tigers’ Player of the Year award this season.

McGregor was set to become a free agent this summer, and rather than extend his stay at the KCOM Stadium, he has now penned a deal with Rangers, returning to Ibrox six years after his exit.
New manager Steven Gerrard was happy to have added Arfield earlier this week, and he has now told the club’s official website that he is delighted to have brought McGregor in too.
Gerrard praised McGregor’s experience, and even added that he knows how competitive he is having played against McGregor in his career, whilst also noting his love for Rangers.
“I am delighted to confirm Allan as my second signing this summer as we continue preparations for next season,” said Gerrard. “He is vastly experienced goalkeeper who we feel can add to the options available to us currently. He has won lots of silverware for this club, and has shone at the highest level in Europe.”
“I have played against Allan a number of times in my own career and I know just how fierce a competitor he can be. He is a Rangers supporter who rose through the ranks here, so having someone with such a depth of feeling towards the club is another great asset to the squad,” he added.
