Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have a new Head of Performance whom Steven Gerrard is a big fan of.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has told The Daily Mail that he is chuffed with the addition of Jordan Milsom.

Milsom became Rangers’ Head of Performance earlier this month in what is one of the lower-profile changes that Gerrard has made at Ibrox since his appointment.

The legendary midfielder watched Celtic demolish the Gers prior to taking the job last month and noticed that Brendan Rodgers’s side were much fitter and stronger than the Blues.

But Gerrard is confident that the addition of Milsom, whom he describes as an “expert”, can remedy some glaring deficiencies during Graeme Murty’s time in charge.

“I’ve got a lot of confidence in Jordan, who is an expert in that field,” he told The Daily Mail. “You can’t get any more qualified than Jordan.

“Not just the qualifications but the way he goes about it, his mannerisms in the one-on-ones with the player and the dynamics he has in the gym and outside on the pitch. His delivery is spot on.”

Celtic aren’t only fitter and stronger than Rangers – they’re also a much better football team.

Gerrard can simplify the problems all he wants, but the reality is that the best way to bridge the gap to Celtic is by radically improving the playing staff, though the Liverpool icon has set off about doing that.

He has already signed six players for the Ibrox club but irrespective of their fitness levels, a lot more are needed if Rangers are to deny the Hoops an eighth successive Premiership title next term.
