Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has spoken highly of Glen Kamara to the Ibrox club’s official website.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers paid Dundee a transfer fee of £100,000 in order to bring Kamara to Ibrox on a permanent contract on January transfer deadline day.

Earlier in the January transfer window, Rangers had signed a pre-contract agree with Kamara, who was set to move to the Gers on a free transfer in the summer of 2019.

Rangers manager Gerrard has explained his decision to bring the 23-year-old former Arsenal prospect to Ibrox now instead of waiting until the summer and has also praised the midfielder.

Gerrard told Rangers’ official website about Kamara on Friday: “He hasn’t done much over the last three weeks as he hasn’t had much game time or trained too much, so we will look after him tomorrow and we will build him up to get him up to speed.

“But you can see today in training, the quality is there to see. I love midfield players who play with their head up, and who look to pass forward and make things happen, and I like my midfielders to win the ball back and be aggressive.

“We believe we can help Glen to improve and grow and help him find the next level. The coaches he has had previously have done a fantastic job with him.”

Good move

Kamara is a very good midfielder who has done well for Dundee in the Scottish Premiership, and the Finland international will enhance the quality of the Rangers midfield.

It could take a while for the 23-year-old to develop an understanding with his Rangers teammates and to get used to manager Gerrard’s system, but there is no doubt that he is a very good signing for the Gers.
