Scott Allan failed to make an impact during his four years at Celtic, but the midfielder made a huge impression on Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard at the weekend.
Rangers hammered Hibernian 6-1 at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, with Bournemouth-owned striker Jermain Defoe scoring a hat-trick.
Alfredo Morelos found the net twice for the Gers, while Liverpool-owned winger Sheyi Ojo also etched his name on the scoresheet for the home team.
Hibernian scored once, and it was the pass for Daryl Horgan’s goal that impressed Rangers manager Gerrard massively.
It was 27-year-old former Celtic midfielder Allan who provided the assist for Hogan’s goal, and Rangers boss and Liverpool legend Gerrard was hugely impressed.
The Daily Record quotes Gerrard as saying about Allan: “You have to praise their goal. Scott Allan’s through ball is outstanding.
“It’s one I would have been proud of myself as a player. The finish was terrific as well and that’s what Hibs are about.”

Over the course of the 90 minutes at Ibrox on Sunday, hosts Rangers had 64% of the possession, took 34 shots of which 19 were on target, and earned 14 corners, according to BBC Sport.
During his four years at Celtic, Allan made a handful of appearances for the first team, and had loan spells at Rotherham United, Dundee and Hibernian.
