Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers pulled off a bargain with Connor Goldson this summer.

Steven Gerrard has revealed what it took to sign Connor Goldson for Rangers this summer.
The Rangers boss spent a hefty £3 million [The Scottish Sun] on signing the big centre-back from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion.
It’s big money, but the 25-year-old is proving to be worth every penny so far.
On Thursday, Goldson, who has struck up an outstanding centre-back partnership with Nikola Katic, scored the winning goal against FC Ufa at Ibrox as Gerrard’s side moved within 90 minutes of reaching the group stages of the Europa League.
And the Liverpool icon, whom Goldson grew up idolising, has revealed to The Scottish Sun that he made a 10-hour journey to convince the big defender to come to Glasgow.
He said: “He’s not a Scouser but he is a Liverpool fan. He said he’d like to meet me face to face because we had spoken a lot on the phone. I said ‘Of course, I will come down and see you’.
“I’m thinking an hour, hour and a half from Liverpool to the Midlands, not a problem. So I said ‘Send me your postcode’ and he sent me a message. He was in his missus’ house in Brighton so it was a ten-hour round trip.

“I thought ‘If he doesn’t sign today….’ His wife gave me a nice cup of tea and I got a very nice welcome. We went from there. And being a Liverpool fan certainly helped as well. He, first and foremost, thinks he belongs at a club like that.
“He has been waiting for a set of supporters to jump on him and come with him. It was a perfect match. Rangers was perfect for Connor and vice-versa. It is a great match.”
Goldson, who has also scored in the Premiership already, only managed three Premier League games for the Seagulls last season and it was clear that he needed to leave the top flight for first-team football.
And what a decision it looks like being by Gerrard to sign him.
The Gers, who have taken four points from a possible six in the Premiership so far, visit Motherwell at Fir Park tomorrow afternoon.
