Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has greatly praised his midfield talent Ryan Jack in the wake of Wednesday night’s win over Ross County, The Scottish Sun report.

The Ibrox midfielder was in exceptional form in Dingwall, scoring two goals in a 4-0 win.

It’s a victory that has ensured they keep pace with Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Jack is enjoying his 2019/20 season and was undoubtedly the top performer on the pitch this week, bringing excellent balance to Rangers’ efforts in the middle of the park.

Gerrard is almost running out of good things to say about the player, having also praised him after his recent contract signing.

However, he has pointed out that nobody is putting in more effort on and off the training ground than Jack right now.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, Gerrard said: “Ryan is an example for the rest of the squad because he never drops his standards, whether it’s a training session or a game.

“He knits everything together, drives the team on and demands from everyone else around him.

“It was a performance of a proper leader and with his two finishes he is adding that to his game as well.”

A bright future at 27

Everything the Gers boss says about Jack marks him out as a future captain in the event that James Tavernier moves on.

The Liverpool icon knows what it means to be a leader in the dressing room and clearly sees a lot of those attributes in the former Aberdeen man.

Ryan Jack of Rangers FC looks on during the UEFA Europa League group G match between BSC Young Boys and Rangers FC at Stade de Suisse, Wankdorf on October 3, 2019 in Bern, Switzerland.

If he can add more goals to his game, like the ones he scored last night, then he’ll generate even more praise from supporters, teammates and coaching staff.

Given the rate of his improvement over the last couple of years, you wouldn’t put it past him to bring his game to new heights over the next 12 months.
