Rangers manager Steven Gerrard had choice words for French side Nice over their transfer approach for Alfredo Morelos.

Branding their reported offer ‘disrespectful’, Rangers boss Gerrard fired a warning to Morelos too.

Gerrard warned Morelos that if he is not fully focused on Rangers’ task at hand, he won’t pick him.

Gerrard told The Express: “I’ll only start players who are focused on the job we’ve got to do.

“All the players are paid extremely well to be professional and respect the club.

“If I witness any player who gets unsettled by outside noise I’ll take them out.”

Gerrard is vociferous in his public statements that Morelos is not for sale, putting pressure on the board to reject offers.

At the same time he is not taking anything for granted, as one little sulk or moment of hesitation from Morelos could undermine his credibility.

Gerrard has built Morelos up and enhanced his ego by showing how much he wants the Colombian to stay. He is determined to remind him who the boss is too.
