Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has told The Scotsman that he wants Scott Arfield to stay at Ibrox amid speculation that Southampton and Crystal Palace want the midfielder.

According to The Scottish Sun, Premier League duo Palace and Southampton are interested in a £3 million move for Arfield.

The 30-year-old midfielder has been playing well for Rangers this season and has been one of the most consistent players for the Gers.

Rangers manager Gerrard has said that he does not want to sell Arfield in the summer transfer window.

Gerrard told The Scotsman: “I don’t want to lose Scott, it doesn’t surprise me that clubs are interested. Every single player has a price but he knows very well I want him to stay here at Rangers.”

One player who is joining Rangers in the summer transfer window is Jake Hastie.

The 20-year-old winger will join the Gers after he leaves Scottish Premiership rivals Motherwell at the end of the season.

The Scotland Under-21 international has only just started his professional club football career, and Rangers manager Gerrard has said that he is going to nurture him for the long run, and has suggested that he could be playing for Under-21 side.

Gerrard told The Glasgow Evening Times: “He’s a young lad who has just been recognised by the Under-21s.

“That’s the type of talent we want to bring here and help and develop and grow and join them to the Ross McCrories and Glenn Middletons of this world and have a young and vibrant exciting squad. And that’s where Jake comes in.”
