Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has suggested on the club’s official Twitter page that Jordan Rossiter is still a couple of weeks away from full match fitness.

Rossiter featured for Rangers in their Scottish League Cup quarter-final tie against Ayr United at Ibrox on Wednesday evening.

The 21-year-old midfielder came on as a substitute in the 56th minute, as the Gers won 4-0.

Rangers manager Gerrard has spoken highly of the 21-year-old midfielder, but the Liverpool legend has admitted that the youngster is not fully match fit yet.

Slow progress

Rossiter joined Rangers in the summer of 2016 after leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

The former England Under-19 international has played only a handful of first-team appearances for Rangers so far in his career.

While it was encouraging that the 21-year-old – who earns £10,000 per week as salary, according to The Daily Mail – made his comeback this week, it seems that he has a lot of work to do before he can feature regularly for Gerrard’s Rangers.
