Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has told The Scottish Sun that he was not happy with Nottingham Forest-owned defender Joe Worrall’s comment about Celtic.

According to The Scottish Sun, Worrall – on loan at Rangers from Forest in the Championship in England – was filmed saying ‘**** the Celtic’ after the Gers’ recent awards dinner.

Rangers manager Gerrard has said that he is not happy with the 22-year-old central defender, and that he will take action.

Gerrard told The Scottish Sun: “I’ve seen the clip and I’ve spoken to the squad about it. We will deal with that internally but I’ve made it clear I was unhappy about it and about the conduct.

“Hopefully situations like that won’t happen again. If they do, players will be severely punished for it.”

According to WhoScored, Worrall has made 19 starts and two substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers this season.

Rejuvenated

Meanwhile, Rangers winger Glenn Middleton has said that he will return to first-team action stronger.

The 19-year-old winger has not started a competitive match for Rangers since December.

The Scotland Under-21 international was not having a good time prior to being left out of the first team by manager Gerrard.

Middleton told The Scottish Sun: “The break has definitely helped. It’s allowed me to work harder in the gym, get stronger, faster, fitter, and allowed me to work on different things on the training pitch. I definitely feel like a better player now.”

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Middleton has made 14 appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists in the process.
