Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have signed nine new players this summer.
Pedro Caixinha has told Herald Scotland that Rangers new boy Carlos Pena is beginning to realise how physical Scottish football can be.
The Mexico international is one of nine new faces to join Rangers this summer, having joined in a £2.2 million deal according to The Daily Mail.
Having spent so much of his career in the Mexican leagues, the 27-year-old, like so many of his fellow new recruits, is not familiar with the Scottish Premiership.
But he could get his first taste of it this afternoon as the Gers visit Motherwell at Fir Park in their Premiership opener.
Pena has looked a tidy player in pre-season outings for Caixinha’s side, though he was unused sub in the win at Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.
And the Portuguese boss says that the former Guadalajara midfielder – who has 17 caps for his country – must understand the rough and tumble nature of such a physical division.
He told Herald Scotland: “We are all the time giving him that confidence and all the time giving him that support. We know he is growing day by day and he is adapting. He wants more day by day and that is the important thing.
“Pena is starting to know that the game here is more physical so you have less time and less space. He needs to understand that and that comes with a rhythm that we are trying to get him into.”
