Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers handed Lee Wallace a new three-year contract yesterday, and Mark Warburton has sung the praises of the defender.
Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton has told the club’s official site that he simply cannot speak highly enough of Lee Wallace.
Wallace has penned a new three-year contract at Rangers which will keep at Ibrox until 2019.
The left-back was named as the Scottish Championship Player of the Year last season, after he played every match for the Light Blues in their title winning campaign.
And Warburton believes that Wallace reminds everyone at Rangers of the standards that they must keep on a daily basis.
“He has an important part in allowing us to set levels of respect that we demand from a Rangers player and staff member,” Warburton said.
“He has a huge roll to play in it and he’s embraced that and has added so much quality to it. It was was a big responsibility and I can’t talk highly enough about Lee Wallace.”
Wallace has already stated that he would like to end his career at Rangers, which reaffirms his commitment to the Glasgow club.
At 28, Wallace still has plenty of years left in the tank and he will be aiming to prove his is capable of performing to a high standard in the top flight next season.
Wallace is expected to be a key part of Warburton’s defence, during Rangers’ first season back in the top flight.
Rangers returned to pre-season training earlier this week, as they step up their preparations for the next campaign.
