Ibrox club Rangers will take on Old Firm rivals Celtic in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup this month.

Rangers manager Mark Warburton has suggested to The Express that Celtic will be favourites to win the Scottish Cup semi-final tie between the two sides.

The Gers and Old Firm rivals Celtic will take on each other in the semi-finals of the prestigious cup competition at Hampden Park in Glasgow later this month.

Warburton has admitted that the Bhoys will be favourites for the clash and has also commented on Ronny Deila’s side’s financial strength.

While not exactly mentioning the Scottish Cup tie, the Englishman has made it clear that Celtic are favourites to win any game they are involved in right now.

“If you look it, Celtic have had European football, Champions League, the financial benefits and a squad packed with international players,” Warburton told The Express while dicussing the chances of Rangers competing with Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title next season.

“The neutral will tell you that they will take some beating, and it would be foolish to say otherwise.

“To go into a game as it currently stands, they have to be favourites. It would be totally ignorant to say anything other than that, but our job is to close the gap.”

Warburton appears to suggest that Celtic are stronger than any of their opponents as things stand, and that is right.

However, the Gers can get the better of the Hoops this month as they, too, have a strong squad and are playing well at the moment.

Rangers will need to sign quality players in the summer transfer window in order to compete with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership next season.

The Ibrox outfit are on the verge of winning the Scottish Championship title this campaign.
