Rangers picked up a much needed win in the Scottish Premiership this afternoon, with a 2-0 win over Partick Thistle at Ibrox.

It was a good win, although many of the thoughts after the game will be with the family of a Rangers fan who passed away in a coach accident on route to the game.

Rangers won 2-0 thanks to goals from the reinstated Niko Kranjcar and midfielder Andy Halliday.

One person who did not feature however was Clint Hill. The veteran defender appeared to have made himself one of the first-choice pairs at centre-back for Rangers, but was then missing from this game.

Before the start of the match Mark Warburton explained why Hill was absent. The 37-year-old has been struck down by an illness.

Warburton told Rangers TV:

“Clint Hill is ill.

“He’s had a stomach upset.

“He’s out for a couple of days. Philippe (Senderos) has stepped in and Rob (Kiernan) is on the bench, so plenty of strength in depth.”

Rangers’ win moves them up to fifth in the Scottish Premiership table and was their first league win since August.

Swiss defender Philippe Senderos stepped in today and performed well. But considering he was sent off on debut against Celtic, his picking up of a yellow card today will worry Rangers fans again.

Hill will be back fit for the Inverness game on Friday night, but it will be interesting to see who Warburton goes for.
