Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are set to take on Celtic on New Year’s Eve.

Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton has admitted to the Glasgow Evening Times that Clint Hill and Lee Wallace could both miss the Old-Firm derby clash on New Year’s Eve.

Rangers are set to host Celtic at Ibrox on Saturday, in what looks set to fierce clash between the two Glasgow rivals.

However, Warburton’s side could be without two important defenders for the contest.

Wallace missed Rangers’ match against St. Johnstone last night with a hamstring injury, while Clint Hill picked up a knock during the second half of the encounter at McDiarmid Park.

And Warburton insists that he will take no risks with either of the Rangers duo.

“It is early days. Lee was out on the training pitch today doing light work and he is touch and go,” Warburton said.

“Fingers crossed because he is a very influential player. He is our skipper and he has been outstanding so fingers crossed we can get Lee there.

“Clint was an impact injury, a dead leg type. If it is Tuesday night… Wednesday is one night closer but he is a quick healer and a good pro. Again, touch wood we can get him ready.

“I wouldn’t risk anybody. The health and wellbeing of the players is always paramount.”

If Wallace and Hill are both out for Rangers, it will be a blow for Warburton’s men, as they look to close the gap on Celtic.

The Bhoys are currently 16 points ahead of Rangers in the Scottish Premiership, and Brendan Rodgers side are still unbeaten in domestic action.

Celtic have won both matches they have played against Rangers so far this term.
