Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham was fantastic in the Ibrox side’s draw with their Scottish Premiership rivals.
The Gers put in surely their best performance against the Hoops since their return to the Scottish Premiership at the start of last season, and many came away from Parkhead feeling that Murty’s men were somewhat unlucky to only draw the game.
Craig Gordon kept the Hoops in the game in the second-half with a couple of brilliant saves, but Rangers had their own stopper to thank for ensuring that they went into the break level with Foderingham also producing some fantastic stops – most notably, keeping James Forrest’s effort out after the Celtic winger’s smart run into the box.
And after the game, Murty could not praise the 26-year-old high enough, insisting that some of the saves that he made did not take him by surprise at all.
“Wes has been great. Since I have been at the football club and I have been here 18 months now, he is top operator and he is right at the top of his level and I love watching him work,” he told the club’s official website. “You see him working hard every day and he gets the plaudits today, richly deserved because he is always ready, always sharp and always fresh.
“His level of technique and concentration is second to none so I am not surprised he makes those saves.”
It has certainly been an excellent season for the former Swindon Town man, who is arguably one of the most consistent performers in the Gers squad and often puts in performances that leave the fans feeling particularly grateful to him.
But he was one of the many members of Murty’s squad who can hold their head up high after an extremely spirited performance against their bitter rivals that will give Rangers a huge amount of belief going into the second-half of the season.
