Graeme Murty’s Glasgow Rangers have brought Sean Goss and Jamie Murphy to Ibrox on loan in the January transfer window.
Rangers have been quite busy in the January transfer window so far and have already brought two new players to Ibrox.
The Gers have signed 22-year-old midfielder Sean Goss from Queens Park Rangers in the Championship in England on loan for the rest of the season.
Then on Saturday, the Ibrox outfit secured the services of 28-year-old winger Jamie Murphy on loan from Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion until the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
Both deals have been loan deals, and Rangers manager Graeme Murty may have suggested why the Gers have made loan signings so far.
Murty, who will remain in charge of the Scottish Premiership side until the end of the season, has stated that the January transfer market is not the best of times to make major signings.
Perhaps Murty’s comments suggest that Rangers will not spend too much money on players in the January transfer window and will save the cash for the summer of 2018.
Murty told The Express: “I’m not sure the January window is the best one for major surgery on any squad. You have to safeguard the future of the club. In January the market is inflated.
“We have to make sure that we get in players who can impact on the squad. Longer-term stuff would wait until the summer.
“I would think that’s the way for most football clubs. That’s not a Rangers-specific statement, that’s a general statement for January.”
