Rangers take on Dundee in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals on Sunday afternoon and Giovanni van Bronckhorst says three Ibrox midfielders could miss the trip to Dens Park. Scott Arfield will definitely be missing.

The Gers are fresh off the back of another brilliant night in the Europa League, seeing off Red Star Belgrade with a stunning 3-0 win at Ibrox. Though they did have to ride their luck, relying on the linesman’s flag.

Red Star scored three goals, all disallowed by the linesman’s flag, meanwhile Allan McGregor produced a near-miraculous one-handed save to stop Aleksandar Katai from the penalty spot – after a foul from Ryan Jack.

Goals from James Tavernier, Alfredo Morelos and Leon Balogun saw Rangers put one foot in the Europa League quarter-finals. Now, their attention turns to Sunday’s Cup clash against Dundee away from home.

Speaking on Friday, manager van Bronckhorst confirmed that Arfield would be missing – but could return for the second leg against Red Star. There are doubts regarding John Lundstram and Joe Aribo.

“Physically it was a tough match last night, we have a couple concerns with Lundstram’s ankle and we have to assess Aribo also before Sunday.

“Hopefully we will see Scott back in training in the next few days and he should be available for the return leg in Belgrade,” van Bronckhorst said.

Van Bronckhorst update: How will Rangers line-up against Dundee?

Lundstram lasted the entire 90 minutes on Thursday night, while Aribo came off after 75 minutes. So, there could at least be a couple of changes at Dundee – if the two are unavailable. Arfield is unable to replace them.

So, if missing, the likelihood is that Amad Diallo or Scott Wright come in for Aribo – given the Nigeria international played out wide on Thursday night. Glen Kamara could partner Jack in the middle of the park.

Van Bronckhorst likes to play with a 10 and given Aaron Ramsey’s only other start came against Annan in the Cup, he may get just his second Rangers start on Sunday. James Sands is also a possibility.
