Rangers manager Steven Gerrard praises new signing after way he has settled at Ibrox early on.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard says he is pleased with the way Nikola Katic has started at the club.
Gerrard, speaking at his press conference prior to tonight’s Europa League fixture in Croatia, discussed Katic upon his return to his homeland.
The new Rangers boss said that he is confident Katic will go on to become a regular Croatia international, having been called into the squad for the first time earlier this year.
Gerrard cited Katic’s ‘obsession’ with getting better as why he believes the centre-back will continue to improve.
Gerrard told Rangers’ media channels: “For sure, [if Nikola Katic] keeps progressing, he will be a national team player.
“He is obsessed with improving individually, and he has mixed very, very well with the group. It is my responsibility to help him grow.”
Katic has formed a partnership with Connor Goldson at the back, although they have not been tested too much so far.
The big test will be when Katic and co come up against league rivals Celtic, but before he gets to that point, he has a chance to grow in stature and confidence.
Gerrard sounds determined to help him succeed.
