Rangers chief Pedro Caixinha is being tipped to bring his former defender to Ibrox this summer.

Pedro Caixinha refused to deny his interest in Rashid Sumaila after The Mail reported Rangers are likely to step up their pursuit of the Qadsia defender.
Rangers are expected to release Philippe Senderos and Clint Hill at the end of their contracts this summer, while Danny Wilson could miss the start of next season leaving the Portuguese with a shortage of centre-backs.
The Ibrox side have already been linked with reinforcements in that department, with Sumaila and Motherwell’s Ben Heneghan the most prominent names mentioned.

Caixinha worked with Sumaila at Al-Gharafa last season and the Ghanaian is set to become a free agent this summer.
But when asked about a possible move for his former player, the Rangers boss told The Mail: “I know the player, I worked with him in Qatar.
“I know about the players I want and I know the contact the club has made.
“The club is holding talks with a number of players at present.
“Some of those players are already on holiday, other players may be involved in competition the day before we start back and others can maybe be involved in pre-season.”

Sumaila has done little to disguise his interest in the move, ‘liking’ several tweets in which Rangers are mentioned in recent weeks.
However, with no European passport to speak of, it remains to be seen whether the six-cap 24-year-old would be granted a work permit to play in Scotland.

Will Sumaila be a Rangers player next season?
