Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has been criticised by Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes.

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes has told the club’s official Twitter account that he doesn’t understand why Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha spends so much time talking about other clubs and players.

The Dons travel to Ibrox to take on Rangers on Wednesday evening, just weeks after Caixinha’s men picked up a thumping 3-0 win over McInnes’ side at Pittodrie.

McInnes will be looking for revenge on Wednesday, and there has been some extra spice added to the game given Caixinha’s pre-match comments.

Not only did Caixinha suggest to the Daily Record that Aberdeen are coming to the end of their cycle as Scotland’s second team, but he also made comments about a possible move for Dons captain Ryan Jack.

Caixinha told The Express that Jack – who is out of contract at the end of the season – is a player he likes a lot due to his consistency and the balance he offers in midfield, hinting that Rangers could make a move for the midfielder this summer.

Those comments appear to have sparked a reaction in the Aberdeen camp, with manager McInnes far from happy in his own pre-match press conference earlier today.

McInnes, as quoted by Aberdeen’s official Twitter account, suggested that he thinks it’s ‘strange’ how Caixinha spends so much time talking about other clubs and their players.

McInnes, a former Rangers midfielder, added that Caixinha’s job is to finish above Celtic, and whilst that won’t happen this season, he doesn’t think the Portuguese boss should be speaking about Jack in the way he did.
