Rangers are reportedly pushing to sign defender Bruno Alves.
Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha
Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has told the club’s official YouTube channel that he would like to sign Bruno Alves – and joked that he would also like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
The Gers boss saw his side lose 2-1 at home to Aberdeen on Wednesday evening, suffering just a second league defeat since becoming manager in March.
The defeat showed that Rangers are still some way behind Aberdeen and Celtic right now, and Caixinha must work hard to bring in new faces this summer.
A host of players have already been linked with moves to Ibrox this summer, and Portuguese centre back Bruno Alves has been one of the most prominent names.
Alves, 35 helped Portugal win Euro 2016 last summer, and has spent the season playing in Italy with Cagliari, having previously enjoyed spells with Porto, Zenit St. Petersburg and Fenerbahce.

On Thursday evening, The Scottish Sun reported that Alves has now agreed a deal to join Rangers this summer, leaving Caixinha’s men to negotiate a fee with Cagliari for his signature.
Earlier today, manager Caixinha spoke to the Rangers official YouTube channel, and admitted that whilst he feels the centre back is ‘a great player’, he wouldn’t confirm whether he will be heading to Ibrox.

Caixinha joked that he wants Alves as well as Cristiano Ronald and Lionel Messi, before noting that he would like to have most his new signings in place before returning to work on the 5th of June.
“Bruno Alves is a great player,” said Caixinha. “I am not going to confirm anything. Him, Ronaldo and Messi – I would like to sign them.”
“I want all the players to be here [before returning]. We want to start with all of the squad organised on the 5th of June,” he added.
