Rangers boss Michael Beale has told Friday’s press conference that Ange Postecoglou has done a “very good” job at Celtic since ahead of Monday’s Old Firm clash at Ibrox – taking an “uncertain” Celtic side to a more secure place.
In just his fifth game as manager of Rangers, 42-year-old Beale takes on arch enemies Celtic in a crucial Glasgow derby. A Celtic win pretty much ends the Scottish Premiership title race, pushing Postecoglou’s men 12 points clear.
However, a win for Rangers would reduce the gap to six points – with another Old Firm derby to play between now and the end of the current campaign. Postecoglou, though, has worked wonders at Celtic since taking over.
Joining the club after an unbeaten Rangers campaign under Steven Gerrard, Celtic were in disarray. He has since changed the style, the mentality and completely overhauled the transfer policy. Now, they are back at the top.
Winning the League Cup and Premiership title last term, Celtic are in with a shout of the treble this season. He has won 62 of his 89 games in charge, with only four of his 16 defeats coming in the Premiership. Beale praised him.
“Done a very good job. Been aware of Ange for years. Some of you might not have been aware of him, but he is very good at his job. Got everyone’s respect. Taken them from an uncertain place, to a certain place – recruiting well.”

Rangers boss Beale: Postecoglou has done a very good job at Celtic
He has not only brought success to Celtic, but stopped the potential of Rangers’ dominance for years to come. The Gers looked like they were set to go on a run in winning a number of League titles. But, Postecoglou changed that.
His recruitment has been eye-catching. Buying players some will have never heard of, and turning them into serious players. Resale value, galore. Look at Kyogo, Josip Juranovic, Matt O’Riley, Jota – all Postecoglou’s signings.
Celtic look good to go on and win the Premiership and even if they fail to beat Rangers on Monday, you would still back them to lift a second successive title come May. Their success is down to £42k-a-week Postecoglou.
