Borna Barisic has admitted to Sportske Novosti that Celtic have a ‘large advantage’ over Rangers in the Scottish Premiership title race.
Odsonne Edouard swept home a last-minute winner in Wednesday’s 2-1 victory at Hearts to maintain Celtic’s eight-point lead over Rangers, who beat Dundee 4-0 on the same night.
The Gers snapped up the likes of Steven Davis and Jermain Defoe after beating the Parkhead club 1-0 at Ibrox prior to the winter break.
But Steven Gerrard’s side have faltered early on in 2019 and from here it seems a huge ask to catch Celtic, now under Neil Lennon following Brendan Rodgers’s shock exit this week.
Barisic, a £2.2 million signing by Rangers last summer [The Record], revealed to Croatian publication Sportske Novosti that he and his team-mates won’t give up, but acknowledges that there’s a long way back.
He said: “Celtic are eight points clear and we are clear of Aberdeen in third place.
“We won’t give up when we are fighting for the title – Rangers are a big club and we can’t afford to do that. But Celtic do have a large advantage.”
Both sides are in Scottish Cup action this weekend.
