Celtic and Glasgow Rangers do battle at Ibrox this weekend in what’ll be a reunion for three players in particular.

Rangers defender Borna Barisic has confirmed that he hasn’t congratulated Celtic pair Jozo Simunovic and Filip Benkovic on their Scottish Premiership title success.

Celtic picked up an eighth successive league crown last weekend, with Simunovic among the goalscorers in an emphatic 3-0 win at Pittodrie.

Barisic, a £2.2 million signing last summer [The Daily Record], might be on opposite sides of the Old Firm divide, but he revealed earlier this season that he regularly meets up with his fellow Croatian defenders in Glasgow.

But the former Osijek star admits that he hasn’t been in touch since Celtic clinched the title.

He told Sportske Jutarnj: “No, I did not congratulate them on being champions. I didn’t even congratulate Jozo Simunovic on his goal against Aberdeen.”

Benkovic, a £13 million signing by Leicester last summer [Sky Sports], hasn’t been playing since Simunovic displaced him from Neil Lennon’s first XI at Parkhead.

All three will have a reunion on Sunday, but it won’t be a social gathering as the Hoops visit Ibrox in the penultimate Premiership game this season.
