Glasgow Rangers were linked with bringing Christophe Berra to Ibrox with former club Hearts also interested.

Glasgow Rangers and Hearts have both been given a potential transfer boost with Christophe Berra set to leave Ipswich Town.
Berra featured in Town’s last game of the season yesterday, and manager Mick McCarthy confirmed after the game it was likely to be his last for the club.
Berra is out of contract at the end of the season and while Ipswich have an option to extend his deal by a further 12 months, it does not sound like they are going to invoke their option to do so.
The Edinburgh News reported in March that Rangers are battling Hearts for his signature.

McCarthy told Ipswich Town’s in house media channel after the game: “He [Berra] has been an outstanding defender.
“Whether that’s the end, and it may well be, then I put on record a big thanks to him, because he’s been excellent. It’s looking likely that it will be.”

Berra began his career at Hearts before leaving for Wolves in 2009. Rangers were interested in signing him at the time but he wanted to test himself in England.
Rangers are on course to finish third in the Scottish Premiership while Hearts are positioned in fifth place, 15 points back.
The lure of returning to his former club will be strong for Berra if he decides on a return to Scotland, but Rangers may be able to offer him a more competitive salary and a better shot of at least competing for the title.
