Rangers fans will remember Bilel Mohsni’s time at Ibrox – and it seems Aston Villa star John McGinn hasn’t forgotten him either.
Mohsni isn’t easily forgotten at Rangers
Tunisian defender Mohsni had spent his career in the French lower leagues before joining Southend United in 2010.
Mohsni’s sheer physicality meant he ended up playing as a makeshift striker, scoring 18 times in 62 games for Southend United.
Rangers pounced in 2013, and we may as well start with the good.
Hey, 11 goals in 44 games! Mohsni’s attacking record at Rangers was a real positive.
Unfortunately, Mohsni will be remembered for other things.
Kicking out and punching Motherwell striker Lee Erwin in 2015 lives long in the memory, and he was also charged with violent conduct in 2014 for an incident with Hibernian defender Liam Fontaine.
Since his time at Rangers, Mohsni has turned out for Angers, Paris FC, Etoile du Sahel, Dundee United, Panachaiki, Grimsby Town, Barnet and now Al-Rawdhah.

McGinn sends message about Mohsni
Mohsni’s name maybe doesn’t mean quite that much outside of Scotland, but John McGinn has put him back in people’s minds.
After Boris Johnson’s address to the nation encouraged everybody to get booster vaccinations, McGinn just couldn’t resist.
The Aston Villa star – now managed by ex-Rangers boss Steven Gerrard – took to Twitter to simply state ‘more jabs than Bilel Mohsni’.
Whilst a clear reference to Mohsni’s punch on Erwin, let’s hope McGinn’s jabs don’t hurt quite so much.
Rangers fans may not have expected to be thinking about Mohsni any time soon, but some character just come back up every now and then – and Mohsni’s time at Ibrox just can’t be forgotten.
