Brendan Rodgers is reportedly keen to raid Newcastle and lure goalkeeper Martin Dubravka to Leicester City in the next few weeks – but surely he is the ideal man to come in at Rangers and replace Allan McGregor at Ibrox.
Dubravka, 33, has been recalled by Newcastle after managing just two Carabao Cup appearances during a loan spell at Manchester United. But the chances are, he is going to suffer the same fate on Tyneside – back-up to Nick Pope.
So, if a decent opportunity arises, you would expect Dubravka to be on the move once again this season. Guardian reported Ed Aarons claims that Leicester and Rodgers are keen to lure the Slovakian to the King Power this month.
But Dubravka would find himself doing something he has already done in his career. Playing for a mid-table Premier League side, hoping to avoid relegation. He needs a new challenge – and a move north of the border might be ideal.

Rodgers keen on Dubravka but Newcastle man ideal for Rangers
Now 40, McGregor remains first choice at Rangers. Back-up is 35-year-old Jon McLaughlin – who did start the season as no.1. But given he has already lost his place between the sticks, it shows the Scottish stopper is not good enough.
Rangers need a replacement for McGregor sooner rather than later. This is likely to be the Ibrox legend’s last season. One that can play play with the ball at his feet, but is a shot-stopper. A leader at the back, with experience.
With Newcastle likely to be willing to cash in on Dubravka moving forward, Rangers have got to consider a move. It would see Dubravka enjoy a new challenge – fighting for trophies and potentially, Champions League football.
If the Toon are keen to offload Dubravka on the cheap, then Rangers should be on red alert. The Mirror say Manchester United had a £5million clause in their loan – and a similar fee should see Rangers rival Rodgers for the Toon stopper.
