Rangers are reportedly one of six clubs interested in signing Jude Bellingham’s younger brother Jobe – and landing him ahead of the other five teams would be an enormous coup for Michael Beale, as his first Ibrox addition.

Bellingham, 17, was handed his first start by manager John Eustace just before the World Cup break. A 2-1 defeat to Sunderland, who happen to be one of the six clubs said to be interested in him. He has 15 senior outings to his name.

TeamTalk report that Sunderland, Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Bayer Leverkusen, Nice and Rangers are all in the mix to sign Bellingham. While he has some way go to reach his brother’s incredible rise, he is certainly showing potential.

He needs the platform to start playing week in, week out. To showcase his talents. Of course, he could have that at Birmingham but with the club languishing in the bottom half of the Championship, he needs a better stage to shine.

Rangers landing Bellingham would be an enormous coup for Beale

There are two reasons why landing Bellingham would be a coup for Beale. Not only, would it see Rangers sign one of England’s best talents in his age group – clocking up three England Under-18 caps. But because of the clubs interested.

Newcastle have the cash, they have the project. Sunderland and Middlesbrough have the stability and the chance of game time. Leverkusen offers what Dortmund have given his elder brother and to a similar degree, so do Nice.

But Rangers have all of it. They can give Bellingham the chance to play, the chance to improve with one of the best coaches on the training ground in Beale, and European football. At least, not this season, but moving forward.

Beating Newcastle and Saturday’s friendly opponents Leverkusen – among others – to the signing of Bellingham would be an enormous coup for Beale and Rangers. Especially, if it is his first signing since returning to Ibrox as manager.
