Glasgow Rangers only signed Barisic last season but the reported £2m signing has had little impact at Ibrox for Steven Gerrard so far.
Glasgow Rangers left-back Borna Barisic has been tipped by his agent to reignite his Ibrox career following an injury-plagued first year at the Scottish Premiership club, as reported by Sky Sports News.
The Croatia international signed for Gers for a reported £2million fee (The Scotsman) last summer but dropped in and out of the side, making just 22 Light Blues appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
During the 2018-19 campaign, Gers manager Steven Gerrard picked a number of other players ahead of Barisic in his position, such as the right-footed Jon Flanagan, midfielder Andy Halliday, and even Lee Wallace.
However, Barisic clearly does have talent, featuring regularly for a nation which reached the World Cup final a year ago, and earlier this month, he played a big role in subduing Gareth Bale as Croatia ran out 2-1 winners against Wales (BBC Sport).
Ives Cakarun, the 26-year-old’s representative, has gone on record to not only remind people of his status within the Croatia setup, but also expressing his desire that the “champion player” can play a big part for Rangers in the upcoming season.
“Borna is in the first XI of the Croatian national team,” Cakarun is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying. “He was injured three or four times last season but we fully hope he can play a big part in the new season. He’s a champion player.”
Barisic is contracted to Rangers until the summer of 2022 (Transfermarkt).
