Rangers attacker Michael O’Halloran is being linked with a move away from Ibrox.

Heart of Midlothian manager Ian Cathro has told the Edinburgh News that he isn’t interested in signing Rangers attacker Michael O’Halloran – but Motherwell’s Mark McGhee did tell The Scottish Sun that he’s keen on him.

Rangers beat Motherwell 2-1 at Ibrox this afternoon, a two late Kenny Miller handed Mark Warburton’s men a Scottish Cup victory in dramatic fashion.

Warburton handed a start to attacker Michael O’Halloran, who has found first-team football hard to come by this season, starting just five league games this term.

The Scottish attacker, 26, joined Rangers from St Johnstone last January, and scored three times in 13 games before the end of last season, but has been unable to nail down a place in the Rangers first-team.

O’Halloran played 71 minutes of the clash against Motherwell this afternoon, but questions remain over his future, with a number of Scottish clubs being linked with a move to sign him this month.

The Daily Record reported earlier this week that Hearts and Motherwell are both keen to take O’Halloran on loan, with the former Celtic youngster seen as a player who can provide pace and goal threat out wide or up front.

Hearts manager Ian Cathro was asked about the situation, and told the Edinburgh News that he isn’t at all interested in signing O’Halloran, and there is no chance of him arriving at Tynecastle before the transfer deadline.

“No, I don’t know what created that. Definitely not,” said Cathro. “I know that Mark [Warburton, Rangers manager] commented in his press conference. I actually saw him at the manager’s meeting earlier in the week and there is nothing in that.”

However, Motherwell boss Mark McGhee did tell The Scottish Sun that he was interested in landing O’Halloran, but isn’t even sure whether Rangers are open to letting him leave.

“He would be one of the names that we’d definitely be interested in, but we’ve had no definitive answer that either he is available or that he will be coming here,” added McGhee.
