Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty will leave Ibrox and join Hull City, according to Herald Scotland.

The 23-year-old Rangers midfielder has reportedly agreed personal terms with Hull, who will play in League One next season after getting relegated from the Championship at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

Rangers will reportedly be paid £400,000 as transfer fee by Hull, who were once in the Premier League.

Sensible move for Greg Docherty?

Docherty joined Rangers from Hamilton Academical in January 2018 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Record to be worth £650,000 – and was expected to make a huge impact at Ibrox after linking up with Gerrard’s side.

However, the former Scotland Under-21 international had failed to establish himself in the Rangers starting lineup.

After a season-long loan spell at Shrewsbury Town in in 2018-19, the 23-year-old spend the second half of the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Hibernian.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard recently told The Daily Record that it is “not going to work” for the midfielder at Ibrox, as covered by HITC Sport.

Following such comments from Gerrard, it makes sense for Docherty to switch to Hull, who will be aiming to bounce straight back to the Championship from the third tier of English football, and it seems that Rangers are willing to take a £250,000 loss on him.
