Rangers are reportedly keen to sign John Souttar.

Rangers are reportedly keen to sign defender John Souttar, The Daily Record reports.
Souttar has being talked up by Hearts boss Craig Levein, with the suggestions Rangers could sign him for just £2 million highly unrealistic at this point.
A pivotal date for Rangers is a date where they won’t be involved, the Scottish Cup final.
Souttar’s Hearts face Celtic, and Rangers are in a no win situation.
Two scenarios
A Hearts win on May 25 would make Souttar more reluctant to leave to join Rangers, as it will show he can win silverware at his current side.
Even if he can be persuaded, leading Hearts to victory will see Souttar’s price escalate. Rangers will be charged an extortionate fee to sign him.

A Celtic victory will throw doubt on whether Souttar is the right player for Rangers to be targeting.
This may depend on the manner of the loss, but if Souttar is exposed, then Rangers may realise anyway they are better off looking elsewhere anyway.
Perhaps this could be a positive for the Gers, not to sign a player who is not suited to their needs, but it won’t be a satisfactory conclusion either to have to move on sharply.
