Rangers striker Eduardo Herrera has extended his loan at Mexican side Necaxa.

His current loan spell had been due to expire on 30th June but clearly having no future under Steven Gerrard at the club, the Gers have managed to ensure he won’t be returning to Glasgow.
Football Scotland have reported the Mexican cost the club as much as £1.5m, arriving during the ill-fated Pedro Caixinha days.
He failed to make much of an impact, managing to start just two matches, with the rest of his 23 appearances coming from the bench.
With another year left on his contract, it’s a deal that has burdened Rangers for too long, but there is now light at the end of the tunnel.
His current loan will take him to within six months of his permanent deal at Ibrox expiring, meaning clubs will be free to negotiate with the player and potentially tie him down to a pre-contract or even enter discussions with Rangers about a cheap exit.

Getting him off the wage bill, at least in part, with an extension of his Mexico stay ensures the club are maximising their resources in a busy transfer window for the club.
Gerrard has already made eight summer signings, seven of them on permanent contracts, so it’s important they get as much deadwood out of Ibrox as possible.
Herrera doesn’t fit in and never really did to begin with, so this is an update Rangers fans should enjoy.
