Robbie Savage told BBC’s 606 programme that ‘Rangers are bigger’ than ‘a lot of teams in the Premier League’ after Chris Sutton questioned whether Steven Gerrard would manage a club in England after winning the Premiership title this season.

Rangers are 19 points clear at the top of the table and it seems Celtic’s chances of winning ten-in-a-row are well and truly over now after that defeat over the weekend.

Unless Gerrard somehow witnesses the biggest capitulation seen in football during these forthcoming months, he should lift his first league title as Rangers boss and the first in his career.

Celtic legend Sutton thinks Gerrard could head down the money-laden English top-flight when the title is officially in Rangers’ cabinet, but his fellow co-presenter, Savage, had this to say in response.

“Chris [Sutton] asked the question at the beginning of the show ,” said Savage. “If Steven Gerrard wins the title with Rangers and it would be a fantastic win, it’s over, if he does that then Chris said ‘would he get a job or would he go to the Premier League in England?’

“For me, Rangers are bigger than a lot of teams in the Premier League in England.”

For many supporters, they feel one day Gerrard will head back home and manage in the Premier League with the obvious destination being Anfield.

But, at this moment in time, a certain Jurgen Klopp is hoping to guide Liverpool to back-to-back titles, so nothing is going to happen just yet.

And whilst Frank Lampard is under pressure at Chelsea, it does seem as though the duo are destined to meet on the touchline with their respective clubs in years to come.
