Greek news outlet Sport24 claim that Rangers have submitted an opening bid to PAOK for Colak’s signature.
It’s unclear just how much Rangers have offered for Colak but Gazzetta claim that the offer is nowhere near what PAOK are seeking.
That means Rangers will have to come back in with a much bigger offer if they really want to sign Colak this summer.
Colak, 28, has been something of a nomad in his career.
The Croatian international has been on the books at Karlsruher II, Nurnberg, Lechia Gdansk, Hoffenheim, Kaiserslauten, Darmstadt, Ingolstadt, Rijeka, PAOK and Malmo.
Colak’s best run certainly came with Rijeka, smashing 51 goals in 92 games for the Croatian club.
PAOK snapped him up in 2020 but Colak has struggled in Greece. So why do they want a big fee for him?
Colak went on loan to Malmo in 2021 and rediscovered his goalscoring touch, bagging 22 goals in 41 outings.
Rangers fans may remember Colak from his Malmo stint as he scored twice at Ibrox to dumb the Gers out of the Champions League qualifiers.
Rangers staff were seemingly interested in Colak after that display and are now ready to bring him to Ibrox.
This would be a gamble given Colak’s patchy career and inability to really settle with one club, but Rangers will hope that he can bring goals.
