Rangers announce new US partnership as Academy programme expands

Rangers have added a new partner to the club’s growinng International Soccer Academy programme with American side Georgia Impact becoming the latest to link up with the Light Blues.

The Ibrox side have added a number of clubs to the partnership in recent seasons, and the addition of Georgia Impact is another step in continuing to improve the club’s network around the world.

Rangers’ Head of Soccer Academies and International Relations, Gary Gibson was delighted to unveil the partnership which will see coaches from Rangers head stateside while players from the US will spend time at the club’s Auchenhowie training grounds, telling Rangers’ website: “Georgia Impact Soccer Club had a girls’ team across at the club on tour from the states in April 2019 which was a huge success.

“We have continued to have positive discussions with Shane Moore, Executive Director and Robert Roddie, Director of Coaching, about creating a longer-term agreement with the club that would benefit their players and coaches.

“I am thrilled that the club are now in a position to progress with a three-year agreement, which will now see Rangers coaches head across to the states to deliver camp events, while Georgia Impact will send teams across on tour and their staff will utilise the Rangers Online Academy from a coach education and player development perspective.”

Georgia Impact are also partners of MLS side Atlanta United and are based in Canton, Georgia.

A number of their players have gone on to play professionally and at collegiate level in the US – including former Atlanta defender Mark Bloom.

With the Gers continuing to grow their name in the US with various partnerships, Rangers will be looking to reap the rewards for years to come.
