Rangers host bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic at Ibrox next weekend.

Time will tell whether Lee Wallace and Declan John are fit for the Gers, meaning that Andy Halliday could be deployed at left-back when Celtic visit the blue half of Glasgow on Sunday.

Halliday, a midfielder, impressed in that unfamiliar role in the win at St Johnstone during the week, and the 26-year-old claimed that he is more than willing to do the same against Brendan Rodgers’s side.

Andy Halliday of Rangers takes on Sam Vokes of Burnley during a pre-season friendly between Rangers FC and Burnley FC at Ibrox Stadium on July 30, 2016 in Glasgow, Scotland.

But if manager Graeme Murty has to play him there when the Hoops come to town, it could be a very long day for the boyhood Rangers fan.

Doing a good job against St Johnstone is one thing, but how would Halliday cope against a winger who has 16 goals under his belt this season?

The Rangers man has plenty of passion and experience overall, but neither element will compensate for an obvious lack of experience in a defensive role and few would be surprised to see Forrest exploit that ruthlessly at Ibrox.
