Rangers and Norwich City fans have taken to Twitter to discuss the fact that Canaries boss Alex Neil was recently made the bookmaker’s favourite for the Ibrox job, according to SkyBet.

The Light Blues are still yet to make an appointment in their search for Mark Warburton’s successor following his departure last month, and given Graeme Murty’s difficult start to life in interim charge of the Gers, the fans would be forgiven for wanting the board to step up their search.

A large number of names have been linked with the post since it became available, but the name recently listed as the favourite on SkyBet is Norwich boss Neil.

Though life at Carrow Road has not exactly gone to plan this season – the Canaries are eighth in the Championship, six points off the play-off places – it is not difficult to see why the Gers hierarchy would look at the 35-year-old as a potential target.

The former Barnsley player has plenty of managerial experience for his age – he is around 18 months younger than the Gers’ current top goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership, Kenny Miller – having been in the dugout for nearly four years, but should surely still be able to make significant improvements in the coming years.

And if given the job, unlike his predecessor, he would arrive with prior experience of managing at the highest level in Scotland having previously led Hamilton to promotion, before leaving for England to also lead Norwich to the top flight despite only taking over midway through the season.

Interestingly, the majority of both Rangers and Norwich fans who have taken to social media seem to support a potential deal with Gers supporters sensing that he may be the best option potentially being discussed, while Canaries fans predominantly seem to be open to the idea of seeing him leave, with some particularly keen on the idea.

Here is the best of the reaction…
