Rangers and Celtic could be in the market for a new striker this summer – and it’s no great surprise to see them being linked with the same targets.
The Gers will have to fend off interest in Alfredo Morelos, whilst Celtic will face major pressure to sell Odsonne Edouard after a simply stunning season.
Both clubs will surely be eyeing up other strikers just in case they lose their star goalscorers, and it seems that one target is emerging for both clubs in League One.
Peterborough United striker Ivan Toney has been a goalscoring sensation over the last two years. Newcastle United sold him to the Posh for just £650,000 in 2018, and he hasn’t stopped scoring.
With 26 goals this season, Toney has now hit 49 goals in 94 games for Peterborough. The 24-year-old is one of the top strikers in the Football League, and Peterborough missing out on promotion may just spark some bids.
Peterborough director of football Barry Fry has told The Scottish Daily Mail (9 June, page 79) that both Celtic and Rangers want to sign Toney. However, he has slapped a £15million asking price on his head.

That is a huge price to pay for a third-tier striker, and Toney today posted a message to Posh fans outlining his desire to get promoted next season having been denied the chance this term.
Peterborough supporters replied begging him to stay, believing he should stay for one more season and win promotion rather than leave this summer.
