Glasgow Rangers are reportedly hoping to bring Tomas Kalas to Ibrox this summer, but face plenty of competition.

The Scottish Sun reported back in March that both Rangers and Celtic are interested in signing Tomas Kalas this summer, as Steven Gerrard and Neil Lennon look to bolster their ranks at the heart of the defence.

The Gers have already signed George Edmundson this summer, while the Daily Mail has suggested that Celtic are closing in on a deal for Christopher Jullien. Nevertheless, it would be no surprise to see both the Gers and Hoops put themselves in the mix to sign Kalas this summer. However, they will face competition for the centre-back’s signature.

Bristol Live recently reported that Bristol City are also interested in the £5 million-rated 26-year-old, who spent last season on loan with the Robins as they came close to securing a play-off spot in the Championship.

It remains to be seen who is willing to spend the most to sign Kalas. But based on recent reports, it appears that both Rangers and Celtic may soon become underdogs should a bidding war ensue.

Bristol Live has claimed this week that Bristol City are set to demand £30 million for Adam Webster with a host of Premier League sides chasing the defender.

It is difficult to imagine any of the top flight sides meeting that asking price. But even if they get close enough to convince City to sell, Lee Johnson’s men will be set for a huge windfall and will probably be looking for at least one defender to fill that void.

Therefore, it would not be out of the question to suggest that City could end up with the funds to completely knock Rangers and Celtic out of the race for Kalas.
