Celtic and Rangers look set to miss out on Kwadwo Baah as the Football League starlet undergoes a medical at Watford, as reported by Sky Sports.

After sealing their return to the Premier League at the first time of asking, the impending arrival of one of England’s most exciting youngsters would represent the cherry on top of an already tasty cake.

Baah, a German-born winger who has played for the Three Lions at international level, is out of contract this summer with a lengthy queue of suitors jostling for position outside Rochdale’s Spotland stadium.

A few weeks ago, GhanaSoccerNet reported Celtic and Rangers both hoped to lure Baah north of the border, three months after his mid-season switch to Premier League leaders Manchester City fell through.

But, barring a late twist, Watford will be the victors of this hotly contested tug-of-war.

Baah is undergoing a medical at Vicarage Road after Xisco Munoz’s Hornets offered Rochdale a compensation fee of £125,000. Sky reports rival suitors still hope to swoop but, while the fat lady isn’t singing yet, she’s certainly clearing her throat.

According to The Athletic, West Ham manager David Moyes held talks with Rochdale counterpart Brian Barry-Murphy regarding Baah in January. Juventus and Bayern Munich were also rumoured to be interested.

“He’s a very special talent. He’s going to attract the headlines – and rightly so because he’s a very dangerous player,” Barry-Murphy told News Chain Online in December.

“In very simple terms, if I was coming to the game I would enjoy watching him.”
