Glasgow Rangers’ Eros Grezda is finding his feet at Ibrox, and came up against a player wanted by their Scottish Premiership rivals on international duty.

With Eros Grezda really starting to catch the eye at Ibrox, Rangers fans were certainly given reason to monitor Albania’s form over the international break. And those keeping an eye on the winger’s progress would have seen that the Gers summer signing helped his country beat Wales 1-0 on Tuesday.

Grezda – who cost £2 million, according to BBC Sport – did not manage to get on the scoresheet, but perhaps the game will go down as a notable one given that he came up against a player that Brendan Rodgers is reportedly keen to bring to Celtic in the near future.

The Daily Express reported last week that the Hoops want to sign Connor Roberts as he heads into the final months of his contract with Swansea.

Roberts is now an established part of Ryan Giggs’ plans for Wales and has played every game in the Championship so far this term. So it would be no surprise at all if many of the Bhoys supporters liked the idea of the 23-year-old replacing Mikael Lustig in the future.

With Roberts playing at right-back for the visitors and Grezda lining up on the left for Albania, the pair engaged in a duel that perhaps could become a much more regular occurrence if the Welshman does end up joining Celtic.

With Grezda starting to impress for Steven Gerrard’s men, he will be hoping to establish himself as a key man for the Gers in the coming months.

And perhaps if Celtic’s transfer plans go as Rodgers wants, it could be Roberts looking to stop him impressing in future Old Firm meetings between the two, especially now that the Rangers man has taken the bragging rights from their first battle.
