Rangers lost 2-0 to Aberdeen at Ibrox on Tuesday night.
Rangers are out of the Scottish Cup after a quarter-final exit at the hands of Aberdeen on Tuesday night.
After a 1-1 draw in the first meeting at Pittodrie, the two teams played the replay on Tuesday night, with Rangers hoping to progress at Ibrox.
However, Aberdeen had other plans, and took an early lead as ex-Celtic winger Niall McGinn opened the scoring for the Dons inside the first three minutes.
Rangers pushed desperately for an equaliser but were hit with a second, with Connor McLennan adding a goal in the second half to seal a 2-0 win for Aberdeen.
Derek McInnes recorded another win over Steven Gerrard in the process, and has now set up a semi-final clash with Celtic, but Graeme Shinnie won’t be involved.
The Aberdeen captain picked up a booking against Rangers last night, meaning he will be suspended for that meeting with the Bhoys.
Shinnie’s display at Ibrox comes amid mounting talk of a move to Ibrox, initially sparked by BT presenter Darrell Currie before Gerrard was coy about a potential pre-contract agreement with the midfielder, as quoted by The Scottish Sun.
Rangers fans took to Twitter to react to Shinnie’s performance, with many suggesting that he would be a good signing having impressed against the Gers yet again, dominating the midfield at Ibrox.
Some can’t believe that other fans are turning their noses up at Shinnie, whilst Aberdeen supporters suggested the performance showed that ‘warrior’ Shinnie should stay at Pittodrie rather than leave for Ibrox this summer.
