Romanian talent Alexi Pitu has indicated that he would be interested in signing for Rangers in order to join forces with Ianis Hagi.

The Gers have been quiet so far this month but a few names have been linked with joining Michael Beale at Ibrox.

Dion Sanderson, Todd Cantwell, Keanu Baccus and Morgan Whittaker are just come of the names being linked with moves to Rangers this month.

Rangers will likely have targets outside of England and Scotland though, with some interesting names across Europe mentioned.

Noah Sadiki, Cho Gue-sung and Benedito Mambuene Mukendi have been mentioned, though just how true those rumours are in unclear.

Another name emerging in recent days is that of Alexi Pitu, but that was only a social media rumour.

Alexi Pitu interested in Rangers move

Still, the rumour has found its way to Pitu, who has now been asked about a potential move to Ibrox.

Pitu has been quoted by the Daily Record as saying that he would love to play with Rangers’ Romanian star Ianis Hagi.

The pain were teammates at Viitorul Costanta over in Romania but eventually went their separate ways.

Hagi moved to Genk and then Rangers whilst Pitu stayed with Viitorul through the merger with Farul Constanta in 2021.

PItu has now indicated that the prospect of joining Hagi at Rangers is ‘very nice’ but he is focused on Farul right now, as they sit top of the league by one point.

“Yes I would very much love to play with Ianis again, but first I want to win the title with Farul Constanta,” said Pitu. “I focus on football, I do my training and in the matches, I try to give my best. I understand the interest in playing with Ianis at Rangers and of course, it would be very nice. But I’m still a Farul player and I need to concentrate only on the important matches we have coming up this season,” he added.

Pitu, 20, was born in Germany but has represented Romania at Under-21 level.

Primarily a left-sided winger who can also play on the right or through the middle, Pitu has been in fine form this season.

Five goals and five assists in 19 league games this season is a decent record and Farul will be looking for even more as they chase the title.

Pitu may well fancy joining Rangers, but e would guess that he wants to at least see the season out before potentially making a summer move.
